Devizes resident and Dorset business issued with fixed penalty notices for fly-tipping
A Devizes resident has been issued with a £400 fixed penalty notice (FPN) for dumping household waste on land off Roundway Hill Business Centre, Hopton Road, Devizes in March.

The incident was witnessed by a member of public, who captured the fly-tipping on their vehicle dashcam and noted down the registration number of the vehicle involved, before informing Wiltshire Council. This helped the council's Environmental Enforcement Officers to trace the culprit.
The man, who cannot be named as an FPN is not a prosecution, apologised for his actions and immediately paid the fine.
The witness is entitled to claim a reward through the council's We're Targeting Fly-tippers (WTF) campaign, which financially rewards residents that provide information which leads to the payment of an FPN or a successful prosecution in court.
Following a separate fly-tip in Melksham, a business from the Bournemouth area was issued with FPNs totalling £700, after they were captured on CCTV depositing several bags of construction waste and building foam in another business's recycling bins, without permission.
The Melksham-based business, which owned the bins, was forced to pay for their bins to be cleared of the contaminated waste. They informed the council, which led to the FPNs being issued, and they are also entitled to claim a reward through the council's WTF campaign.
Cllr Nick Holder, Cabinet Member for Highways and Street Scene, said: We're committed to tackling fly-tipping here in Wiltshire, but we also need help from the public to catch offenders. I would like to thank the people who reported these incidents to us as they helped us to trace the offenders, and they are eligible for a reward as a result.
As set out in our Business Plan, we have a clear commitment to tackling fly-tipping in Wiltshire. Thanks to our investment in extra officers and equipment such as cameras, we have already reduced fly-tipping in the county from 7.4 incidents per thousand residents to 5.1 incidents, and we are focused on continuing this trend.
These fines send a clear message to anyone thinking of fly-tipping in our beautiful county - we will fine or prosecute if you are caught dumping rubbish illegally in Wiltshire.
