As part of the ongoing transition from a linear to a circular economic system, we are witnessing enormous changes in processes and technologies in all production areas. This change aims to maximize the use of resources and energy and limit waste and polluting emissions.

One of the sectors most involved in this process is that of water and waste treatment in which the plants are transformed into real resource recovery centers. In particular in the field of urban wastewater purification, in addition to allowing discharge in accordance with the law, it is necessary to implement processes that allow the recovery of chemical substances, biofuels, fertilizers and water to be reused in the agricultural and industrial sectors.

The Seminar, organized jointly by the Order of Engineers of the Province of Reggio Calabria and the Laboratory of Health Engineering and Technologies for the Ecological Transition of the Department of Civil, Energy, Environmental and Materials Engineering of the Università degli Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria , aims to provide an overview of the open problems (in particular the chronic technical-organizational deficit of purification in Calabria) and the new frontiers for the treatment of urban wastewater.

The event is aimed at professionals in the sector, technicians from the technical offices of the Region and local authorities, judicial police officers who deal with the prevention and repression of environmental crimes, students and all interested citizens.

The seminar will take place on May 31st from 9:00 to 18:30 in the Aula Magna of the Engineering Departments in via Zehender - Feo di Vito Reggio Calabria.
