Foreign Ministry Spokesman A.Glaz answers the question about the non-invitation of Belarusian diplomats to the commemorative events in the Concentration Camp Mauthausen

26 April 2024

We do not need any invitation or permission to pay tribute to the heroism of millions of Soviet soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the peoples of all countries of Europe without exception, to honour the memory of those tortured in Nazi concentration camps.

This applies not only to Austria, but also to all other places. For us, it is a matter of justice, morality and ethics, which are obviously lacking among Western politicians who are trying to play games and trickery on this.

That is why, as in previous years, Belarusian diplomats around the world on their own, with their Russian and other colleagues will hold commemorative events in various formats, lay wreaths at the monuments and obelisks commemorating that terrible war and the great victory of our ancestors. Dachau, Sachsenhausen, Buchenwald, Mauthausen, Ravensbrück, Auschwitz - we remember every person who was killed and suffered.

They gave their lives to protect us, and we will protect their memory!
