Summer concerts season in Aurora kick offs May 30

Enjoy live music, unique performances and experiences every month throughout Aurora with Summer Jams and Storytime, and Aurora Rhythms, hosted by the city's Library and Cultural Services Department.

Summer Jams and Storytime invites people of all ages to enjoy a storytime from the Bookmobile and live performances. Storytime starts at 6 p.m. with performances at 6:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Aurora Rhythms concert series will take place monthly from June to December at different locations, including Aurora Public Library branches and the Aurora Fox Arts Center, at 6:30 p.m. and requires registration. All events are free.

Summer Jams and Storytime events:

Kalama Polynesian Dancers will kick off the season with a special performance in the tropical wind at 5:15 p.m., Thursday, May 30, at Del Mar Park, 12000 E. 6th Ave., followed by the movie "The Marvels," as part of a special collaboration with Parks, Recreation and Open Space's Park "Lights and Movie Nights." Storytime will not take place at this event.

Animal Farm, Friday, June 21 at Generals' Park, 1561 Quentin St. Original music exploring themes of social and emotional learning, community and self-expression through the eyes of furry, feathered and scaly friends. Instrument petting zoo after the performance. The Mountain Buddies, Friday, July 12 at Mission Viejo Park, 3999 S. Mission Parkway. Groovy harmonica and guitar tunes for children to get down, spin around and stay silly while their grownups reminisce in classic sing-along songs and revel in some future family hits.

Aurora Rhythms lineup:

The Aurora Rhythms season starts with a performance by The Reminders, a musical duo who seamlessly blend razor-sharp rhythms and raw, soulful vocals with reggae-tinged hip-hop beats, Tuesday, June 18, at the Aurora Fox Arts Center, 9900 E. Colfax Ave.

• Perpetual Motion, an exotic blend of world music, progressive jazz and blues, Tuesday, July 30, Mission Viejo Library, 15324 E. Hamden Circle

• Salome Songbird Folk Trio, original songs influenced by jazz, baroque, bebop and bluegrass, Tuesday, Aug. 20, Martin Luther King Jr. Library, 9898 E. Colfax Ave.

• Tom Pakele and Stevieguitar Glotzer, a guitar and harmonica blues duo, Tuesday, Sept. 10, Mission Viejo Library, 15324 E. Hamden Circle

• "War of the Worlds" Live Radio Play, professional actors performing the 1938 broadcast from H.G. Wells' novel, Tuesday, Oct. 24, Mission Viejo Library, 15324 E. Hamden Circle

• C.L. Fondal, genre-blending music from Soul to R&B, to hip-hop, rock and blues, Tuesday, Nov. 19, Aurora Fox Arts Center, 9990 E. Colfax Ave.

• "The Bishop's Wife" Live Radio Play, performance with live sounds and music from radio shows from 1930-1955, Tuesday. Dec. 19, Martin Luther King Jr. Library, 9898 E. Colfax Ave.
