Foreign Secretary Alicia Bárcena travels to Tapachula, Chiapas for a coordination meeting on migration strategy

Foreign Secretary Alicia Bárcena traveled to Tapachula, Chiapas for a meeting on migration strategy. The meeting was held following the instructions of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to learn about and manage migration on Mexico's southern border.

With the heads of the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of National Defense, the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation, IMSS and the Government of Chiapas, the Foreign Secretary discussed Mexico's strategy for orderly, safe, regular and humane migration in the region that is voluntary and not driven by necessity, and is addressed through a development approach that addresses its root causes.

The Secretary highlighted the work done on a model to manage migration humanely, address its structural causes and include employment options.
