BCPP loses 0.23 pct after nine consecutive days of growth

Prague, Jan 3 (CTK) - The Prague Stock Exchange (BCPP) weakened today after nine consecutive days of growth, the headline PX index losing 0.23 percent to 1,419.08 points, with energy group CEZ, Erste Bank and Komercni banka posting losses, according to the stock exchange's website.

The Prague Stock Exchange wrote off part of Tuesday's gains today, said Wood & Company broker Vladimir Vavra. Tuesday's close was the strongest since February 2022.

With the negative sentiment on foreign markets, the BCPP was in the red for most of the trading day, added Fio banka broker Josef Dudek.

"After a mixed development, CEZ fell by 0.67 percent to Kc965 in the final auction," Dudek said. Vavra noted that the energy firm's shares made up more than half of the total trading volume today.

Slovak industrial company Gevorkyan lost 1.45 percent to Kc272.

Among bank listings, Austria's Erste Group Bank shed 0.60 percent to Kc900.60 and Komercni banka lost 0.41 percent to Kc722.50. Moneta Money Bank, on the other hand, gained 0.11 percent to Kc93.80.

"Shares of Colt CZ jumped 1.87 percent to Kc546 following the news that the company had bought technology to produce an automatic grenade launcher," said Dudek.

Tobacco company Philip Morris rose by 0.38 percent to Kc15,820.
