Præmievindere af Ujarassiorit 2022 er nu fundet

Der er blevet indsendt 248 stenprøver til Ujarassiorit i 2022. 28 af prøverne viste tegn på mineraliseringer og er blevet analyseret kemisk for metalindhold. Dom-merkomitéen for den landsdækkende mineraljagt består af malmgeologer fra De-partementet for Råstoffer og Justitsområdet og De Nationale Geologiske Under-søgelser for Danmark og Grønland. Ujarassiorit er for alle med bopæl i Grønland. Folk kan fra samtlige posthuse portofrit indsende fundne stenprøver til nærmere geologisk undersøgelse. Naalakkersuisut ønsker alle præmievinderne tillykke og takker deltagere af Ujarassiorit 2022 for at være med til at fremme råstofaktivite-ter i Grønland. God sommer og god mineraljagt.

Førstepræmien på 55.000 skattefrie kroner går til Malu Ravn fra Qaqortoq. Malu Ravn præmieres for sin fund af en magmatisk bjergart fra Qaqortukuluup Tasiusaata Qinnguata kuua. Prøven er fra fast fjeld og bjergarten indeholder lithium (67 g/ton), beryllium (13 g/ton), mangan (9.440 g/ton), yttrium (57 g/ton) og forhøjet i disse sjældne jordartsmetaller; erbium, holmium, lutetium, thulium og ytterbium. Prøven er fra fast fjeld med en tydelig angivelse af fundsted. De nævnte metaller i prøven er med på EU´s liste fra 2023 over kritiske råstoffer. Lignende forekomster er kendt fra Narsaq-Tunulliarfik-Narsarsuaq området, men fundet af en bjergart med disse grundstoffer udenfor dette område er interessant.

Andenpræmien går til Lisbeth Bianco fra Qaqortoq vinder 25.000 skattefrie kroner for sit fund af en sulfidførende paragnejs (sedimentært gnejs). Analysen af prøven viser et indhold af kobber (2.130 g/ton), arsen (116 g/ton) og let forhø-jede koncentrationer af metallerne; guld, platin og palladium. Prøven er fra fast fjeld med en tydelig angivelse af fundsted. Kobber og arsen er med i EU's liste over strategiske råstoffer fra 2023. Guld, kobber- og arsenforekomster kendes især fra Kirkespirdalen, men prøven med disse metaller er sydvest for dette om-råde.

To vindere af tredjepræmier på hver 10.000 skattefrie kroner går til:

• Jens Grim fra Upernavik, for sit fund af en sulfidførende paragnejs (sedimen-tært gnejs) fra Upernavik. Prøven indeholder forhøjede koncentrationer af sjæld-ne jordartsmetaller; cerium (1.930 g/ton), lanthan (870 g/ton), thorium (670g/ton), neodym (668 g/ton), praseodym (200 g/ton) og letforhøjede i disse andre sjældne jordartsmetaller; samarium, gadolinium, terbium, gallium og germanium. Prøven har desuden et forhøjet blyindhold. Prøvens indhold af en række forskellige sjældne jordartsmetaller er usædvanlig for Upernavik regionen.
• Paulus Isak Danielsen fra Kullorsuaq for sin metagråvakke-prøve (mørk sedi-mentært sandsten) med sulfider. Prøven er fra Saqqarlersuaq øst for Kullorsuaq. Følgende metaller findes i forhøjede mængder; zink (1800 g/ton), sølv (3 g/ton), zirkonium (123 g/ton) samt wolfram, vanadium, tellurium, uran, tin, rhenium, cæ-sium, og cadmium. Området rummer muligheder for zink-forekomster.

Fire vindere af fjerdepræmier på hver 5.000 kr. skattefrie går til:

• Bebiane Petersen, Qaanaaq for sin prøve rig på mineralet magnetit. Prøven er muligvis en båndet jernmalm med målt jernindhold på 27 %, samt svagt forhøje-de mængder af guld (0,072 g/ton). Båndet jernmalm kendes fra enkelte lokalite-ter i Qaanaaq-regionen og bedst syd for Pituffik.
• Medarbejdere i sygehuset i Sisimiut, Sisimiut for deres fund af en sulfidfø-rende magmatisk bjergart. Prøven indeholder kobolt (227 g/ton) samt niobium, selen, tantal og tellurium i let forhøjede mængder.
• Agnethe Inugsugtoq, Ikerasaarsuk for sit fund af en magnesiumrig tæt ved bygden Ikerasaarsuk med forhøjede mængder af magnesium (17,5%), krom (0,2 %), nikkel (0,2%), kobolt (117 g/ton) og bismuth.
• Laura Jensen, Narsaq for sit fund af rusten gnejs fra Illorsuit Qeqertaat, syd for Arsuk. Prøven har let forhøjet indhold af molybdæn (179 g/ton), barium (0,2 %) og aluminium (8,2%).

Kort om Ujarassiorit Ujarassiorit er den nationale mineraljagtkonkurrence for amatørgeologer, der har kørt siden 1989. Mineraljagten involverer og bruger den lokale befolknings lokale viden til at dine nye mineralforekomster. I flere tilfælde har de indsendte prøver givet anledning til, at efterforskningsselskaber har påbe-gyndt mineralefterforskning i Grønland. Derudover har mineraljagten det formål at fremme en bredere forståelse og generel interesse for geologi og mineraler for indbyggere i Grønland. 248 rock samples have been submitted to Ujarassiorit in 2022. 28 of the samples showed signs of mineralization and have been chemically analyzed for metal con-tent.

The judging committee for the nationwide mineral hunt consists of ore geologists from the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Justice and the National Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland. Ujarassiorit is for everyone residing in Green-land. People can send in rock samples from all post offices with pre-paid postage for further geological examination.

The first prize of DKK 55,000 tax-free goes to Malu Ravn from Qaqortoq. Malu Ravn is awarded for her discovery of an igneous rock from Qaqortukuluup Ta-siusaata Qinnguata kuua. The sample is from solid rock and the rock contains lithi-um (67 g/ton), beryllium (13 g/ton), manganese (9,440 g/ton), yttrium (57 g/ton) and elevated in these rare earth metals; erbium, holmium, lutetium, thulium and ytterbium. The sample is from solid rock with a clear indication of location. The metals in the sample are on the EU's 2023 list of critical raw materials. Similar de-posits are known from the Narsaq-Tunulliarfik-Narsarsarsuaq area, but the discov-ery of a rock with these elements outside this area is interesting.

Second prize goes to Lisbeth Bianco from Qaqortoq who wins DKK 25,000 tax-free for her discovery of a sulphide-bearing paragneiss (sedimentary gneiss). The analysis of the sample shows a content of copper (2,130 g/tonne), arsenic (116 g/tonne) and slightly elevated concentrations of the metals; gold, platinum and pal-ladium. The sample is from solid rock with a clear indication of location. Copper and arsenic are included in the EU's list of strategic raw materials from 2023. Gold, copper and arsenic occurrences are mainly known from Kirkespirdalen, but the sample with these metals is southwest of this area.

Two third prize winners of DKK 10,000 tax-free ech go to:

• Jens Grim from Upernavik, for his discovery of a sulphide-bearing paragneiss from Upernavik. The sample contains elevated concentrations of rare earth met-als; cerium (1,930 g/ton), lanthanum (870 g/ton), thorium (670 g/ton), neodymium (668 g/ton), praseodymium (200 g/ton) and slightly elevated concentrations of these other rare earth metals; samarium, gadolinium, terbium, gallium and germa-nium. The sample also has an elevated lead content. The sample's content of a va-riety of rare earth elements is unusual for the Upernavik region.
• Paulus Isak Danielsen from Kullorsuaq for his meta-graywacke sample (dark sedimentary sandstone) with sulphides. The sample is from Saqqarlersuaq east of Kullorsuaq. The following metals are found in elevated amounts; zinc (1800 g/tonne), silver (3 g/tonne), zirconium (123 g/tonne) as well as tungsten, vanadi-um, tellurium, uranium, tin, rhenium, cesium, and cadmium. The area has poten-tial for zinc deposits.

Four winners of fourth prizes of DKK 5,000 each tax-free go to:

• Bebiane Petersen from Qaanaaq for her sample rich in the mineral magnetite. The sample is possibly a banded iron ore with measured iron content of 27%, as well as slightly elevated amounts of gold (0.072 g/tonne). Banded iron ore is known from a few localities in the Qaanaaq region and best south of Pituffik.
• Sisimiut Hospital employees from Sisimiut for their discovery of a sulphide-bearing igneous rock. The sample contains cobalt (227 g/tonne) as well as niobi-um, selenium, tantalum and tellurium in slightly elevated amounts.
• Agnethe Inugsugtoq from Ikerasaarsuk for her discovery of a magnesium-rich rock near the village of Ikerasaarsuk with elevated amounts of chromium (0.2%), nickel (0.2%), cobalt (117 g/tonne) and bismuth.
• Laura Jensen from Narsaq for her discovery of rusty gneiss from Illorsuit Qeqertaat, south of Arsuk. The sample has slightly elevated molybdenum (179 g/tonne), barium (0.2%) and aluminum (8.2%).

Briefly about Ujarassiorit
Ujarassiorit is the national mineral hunting competition for amateur geologists that has been running since 1989. The mineral hunt involves and uses the local popula-tion's local knowledge to find new mineral deposits. In several cases, the submitted samples have led to exploration companies starting mineral exploration in Green-land.
In addition, the mineral hunt aims to promote a broader understanding and general interest in geology and minerals for the inhabitants of Greenland.

Ujarassiorit is administered by the Department of Mineral Resources and Justice.
