Today, the Community of Madrid opened Metro de Madrid's new logistics centre, a pioneering automated warehouse in Spain for the maintenance of trains and installations throughout the underground network, using the most innovative technology in the industry. The Regional Minister of Transport, Mobility and Infrastructure, David Pérez, has visited these facilities, located in the railway company's Canillejas depot, where the Central Workshops are also located.

The warehouse incorporates the most advanced technology in order preparation with robots, with the acquisition of an automatic tray accumulation system that increases the efficiency of logistics activities and increases the capacity of supplies. This will also lead to more advanced train maintenance processes, as spare parts can be prepared more quickly.

The investment, budgeted at €7.4 million, will result in estimated savings for Metro of €14.6 million over the next 15 years. Pérez assured that "this new booking system seeks to reinforce the service and its features in order to increase the quality offered to the beneficiaries of public transport".

"At the moment, we have managed to increase productivity in the processes of incoming goods in the warehouse, compact the storage space and improve the traceability of the stored spare parts, among other achievements. In the second phase, which starts now, new robotised supply systems will be created for heavy material, which will optimise the management of this type of product, increasing the reliability of the service", the regional minister emphasised.
