All Provinces and HUCs in Northern Mindanao Continue to Expand in 2022; City of Cagayan de Oro Records the Fastest Growth with 9.4 Percent

All five provinces and two Highly Urbanized Cities (HUCs) in Northern Mindanao continued to expand in 2022, with the City of Cagayan de Oro recording the fastest growth of 9.4 percent. Five of the seven economies in the region recorded growths faster than the regional growth of 7.2 percent in 2022. (Figure 1)

Of the PhP 935.30 billion value of Northern Mindanao's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2022, the City of Cagayan de Oro accounted for the largest share of 28.0 percent, followed by the province of Bukidnon with 26.6 percent share. On the other hand, the province of Camiguin had the least share of 1.2 percent. (Figure 2)

Bukidnon had the biggest share to the region's total value of Agriculture, forestry and fishing (AFF) in 2022 with 67.2 percent. Lanao del Norte and Misamis Oriental followed with shares of 12.9 percent and 10.4 percent, respectively. (Table 1)

The total value of the region's Industry in 2022 was PhP 238.84 billion. More than half of the total value was accounted for by Misamis Oriental, City of Cagayan de Oro, and Bukidnon, with corresponding shares of 26.8 percent, 26.2 percent, and 18.4 percent. (Table 1)

Almost one-third or 38.7 percent of the region's total value of Services was contributed by the City of Cagayan de Oro. This was followed by Misamis Occidental and Bukidnon with shares of 17.5 percent and 15.6 percent, respectively. (Table 1)

In 2023, the Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) compilation covers 82 provinces and 17 HUCs across 16 regions in the country. The results covering the period 2018 to 2022 were consistent with the annual regional accounts released on 27 April 2023.
