January 21, 2025 - GE Vernova's Global Technology Center in Greenville recently announced a major milestone in the development of its gas turbine systems.
The company, which was spun off from General Electric (GE) in 2023, successfully tested its advanced Dry Low NOx (DLN) hydrogen combustion technology. The breakthrough allows GE Vernova's B- and E-class gas turbines to run on a blend of natural gas and hydrogen, as well as 100% hydrogen fuel. With the DLN technology, the turbines will achieve greater efficiency, lower carbon emissions, and safe operation with hydrogen, an often volatile substance.
GE Vernova said it plans to make the new system available for new and existing B- and E-class gas turbines as early as 2026.
