Fort Worth Marshals: celebrating 150 years of law and order

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Fort Worth Marshals Office.

Fort Worth will celebrate May 16-20 as Marshal Appreciation Week. City of Fort Worth employees and residents will show their appreciation for the Marshal Division's work to execute their duties with professionalism every day.

Currently, Fort Worth has 45 deputy marshals, one of the largest marshal divisions in Texas.

How they serve:Fort Worth deputy marshals apprehend fugitives, execute criminal processes, enforce the traffic code, protect the municipal judiciary and staff, patrol Lake Worth and provide support to multiple City agencies and community outreach programs.

Marshals are tasked with providing security for City Council, the Public Safety Building and the Fort Worth Public Library buildings. Deputy marshals screen more than 375,000 persons annually, using the latest security techniques and devices to maintain safety and security.

The Marshal Division continues to find creative and innovative ways to build long-lasting community relationships and partnerships while providing a high level of customer service during encounters with the public.
