Orange County Animal Services Announces Specialty Week

Event to Feature Staff-Selected Pets, Reduced Adoption Fees

Orange County, FL - Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) will highlight individual pets daily starting Monday, April 22 through Sunday, April 28. Selected by OCAS staff, each featured pet's adoption fee will be reduced to $10 on their designated day and offered with a selection of supplies including collars, leashes, toys, and treats to help the pet transition to their new home.

"The pets we're highlighting are loving, healthy, great adoption candidates that just need the right person to give them a chance," said Diane Summers, Manager for Orange County Animal Services. "Right now, we have more than 200 pets in our shelter, and t can be challenging to bring attention to individual pets and help them find a home."

The schedule of the staff's selected animals being featured is as follow:

  • Missy Monday - 7-year-old Missy (A541827) has been in the shelter's care since February as her owner was facing homelessness. She is friendly with people and other dogs, walks well on the leash and knows basic commands.
  • Twofer Tuesday - 6-year-old Tigrina (A545007) and 4-year-old Tiger (A545008) can be adopted together at the reduced rate of $10. Their former owner surrendered the pair after there was conflict in the household between the two cats and the dog. Both cats are friendly with adults, children, and other cats.
  • Windsong Wednesday - 7-year-old Windsong (A538403) has been in the shelter's system since December 2023 but just returned from Hounds Town Boarding facility, where she enjoyed short-term foster care, and the Hounds Town staff described her as "perfect." She gets along well with people and other dogs.
  • Thunder Thursday - 2-year-old Thunder (A542837) has been in the shelter's care for almost a year after being taken in as a stray. He's an energetic, friendly boy who has done well with people and most dogs during his stay at Animal Services.
  • Flex Friday - 2-year-old Flex (A537813) came to Animal Services January 27. The volunteers say he's "high-spirited, playful and energetic." He's very people oriented and enjoys playing with dogs of a similar speed.
  • Sadie Saturday - 4-year-old Sadie (A523412) is a shelter favorite. The beautiful, shy dog is slow to warm up, but a charmer with time. She arrived at the shelter as a stray on February 26.
  • Siobhan Sunday - An Animal Services Officer picked up 5-year-old Siobhan (A543169) as a stray on March 8. The officer noted he was "able to lure [her] with french fries, after she ate all my fries I was able to leash and load." She's a highly treat-motivated, people friendly dog.

Residents can visit Orange County Animal Services at 2769 Conroy Road in Orlando. Available pets can be viewed on the shelter's website, along with information on the adoption process.
