The Peninsula Chicago Announces Pop-Up Dining Experience: Sushi POP!
For nine weeks, beginning this fall, Chicagoans and visitors can enjoy a pop-up dining experience at The Peninsula Chicago: "Sushi POP!"This dinner concept features handmade sushi and Japanese specialties created from the restaurant's Sushi Bar commencing in The Lobby restaurant on Friday and Saturday evenings from September 22 through November 18, 2023. This pop-up includes a playful spin on the word "POP!" while bringing a bit of nostalgia from the '80s and '90s to the experience, featuring Pop Music, Pop Culture and Pop Art.
"In recent months, we've seen the '80s and '90s pop era making a comeback. When we started talking about bringing a pop-up concept to life, we thought we could have fun with a twist on 'all things Pop' at this pop-up," said Kyle Spaull, Lobby Manager. "Today's diners are seeking great sushi and we've simply paired delicious, house made sushi with all things Pop," he continued.
About the Pop-Up Menu:Diners can choose from a variety of freshly made Sushi Maki Rolls including Crunch Smoke Lobster Maki, Smoked Cucumber Avocado Maki (vegetarian option), Spicy Scallop Maki made at the Sushi Bar located in the restaurant. Entrée options include Maguro Caprese, Kanpachi Crudo, Lobster Sarada and more. Vegetarian and cooked options include Beef Gyoza, Tempura Vegetables, Vegetable Springrolls and more. A variety of Sashimi and Nigiri are featured as well as a sushi tasting menu experience created by The Lobby's sushi chef.
About the Pop-Up Beverage Menu: The bar menu features a unique selection of Japanese beers, whiskies, and sakes. Cocktail options 'walk' guests down memory lane with the 'Walkman Playlist' named after favorite pop songs from '80s and '90s and feature cocktail combinations reminiscent of the pop era. There is even a cocktail that goes 'POP!'
About the Pop Music:A DJ spinning vinyl records from pop culture movies and the chart top 100 songs from the '80s and '90s gets the vintage vibe vibing and toes a tappin'.
When and Where: Sushi POP! takes place on Friday and Saturday weekend evenings from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm, September 22 through November 18, 2023 in The Lobby restaurant, located at The Peninsula Chicago, 108 East Superior Street in Chicago. '80s/'90s vintage attire welcome.
