Prizes awarded in 7th edition of Foreign Minister's History Contest

Undersecretary of State Henryka Mościcka-Dendys presented awards to authors of academic and popular science publications released in 2022 and awarded in the 7th edition of the Foreign Minister's History Contest. In her address, she underlined that the awarded works not only expand our knowledge, but also facilitate the understanding of the Polish perspective and historical experiences. These different perspectives are the contest's added value especially regarding the papers on Polish history by foreign authors.

Particularly noteworthy is the great variety of the works awarded.

Prizes were presented in two categories:

For "Best publication on the history of Polish diplomacy in the Polish language":

  • First prize - Vladas Sirutavičius, PhD (Lithuania), Litwini a litewscy Polacy, Litwa a Polska 1988-1994 [Lithuanians and Lithuanian Poles, Lithuania and Poland 1988-1994], Kraków, 2022.
  • Second prize - Joanna Lusek, PhD, Konsulat na granicy. Działalność Konsulatu Generalnego Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej w Bytomiu (1922-1931) [A consulate at the border. The activity of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Bytom (1922-1931)], Bytom-Opole, 2022.
  • Third prize - Piotr Długołęcki (ed.), Polskie dokumenty dyplomatyczne 1981 lipiec-grudzień [Polish diplomatic documents, July-December 1981], Warszawa, 2022.

For "Best foreign-language publication promoting Poland's history":

  • First prize - Wolfgang Templin (Germany), Revolutionär und Staatsgründer: Józef Piłsudski - eine Biografie, Berlin, 2022.
  • Second prize - Piotr Puchalski, PhD, Poland in a Colonial World Order. Adjustments and Aspirations, 1918-1939, London-New York, 2022.
  • Third prize - Prof. Miguel Conde Pazos (Spain), La quiebra de un modelo dinástico. Relaciones entre la Casa de Austria y los Vasa de Polonia (1635-1668), Madrid, 2022.
