Hall County set to host opening celebration at Cool Springs Park

Hall County officials will host an opening celebration on Saturday, April 13, at 9 a.m. to commemorate the renovations and upgrades at Cool Springs Park in northwest Hall County.

"Cool Springs Park is an exciting project for us at Hall County," District 2 Commissioner Billy Powell, whose district the park sits in, said. "The playground is in a new, more convenient location and includes sections that are handicap accessible. It is something that we are truly proud of, and it deserves to be celebrated."

The new playground is located next to the mountain bike trail, right across the parking lot near the ball fields. This new location is intended to better serve parents, friends and family of those who may have children utilizing the ball fields and, of course, to better serve children.

"We wanted to try something different, and we came to the conclusion that moving the playground would provide citizens with the most benefit," Hall County Parks and Community Services Director Brent Holloway said. "There is now better access to the playground, easier parking, and it better serves kids whose big brother or big sister is playing a game at the ball fields to come over and utilize the playground."

Along with the new playground equipment, Cool Springs Park received additional upgrades to its ball fields, new fencing, new landscaping, new park benches and an overall revitalization.

"Not only did our staff do a great job with the various playground and ball field installs, but they were also able to complete the project well under budget, which is always a win for our staff and the citizens of Hall County," Holloway said.

Commissioner Powell will throw out a ceremonial first pitch to kick off two Hall County Parks Recreational League baseball games the morning of the event and will be joined by County officials to celebrate the park's upgraded amenities.

Light refreshments will be provided, and activities will begin at 9 a.m. at Cool Springs Park, located at 5579 Cool Springs Road in Gainesville.
