On May 5, 2018 D.C. Law 22-94, the "Fair Elections Amendment Act of 2018" (Fair Elections Act), became effective in the District of Columbia. The "Fair Elections Act" provides for publicly funded political campaigns in the District of Columbia, and establishes the Fair Elections Program within the Office of Campaign Finance. The Agency is responsible for the administration of the Program, including providing for the verification and audit of qualified small dollar contributions, authorizing payments from the Fair Elections Fund, the conduct of debates for each contested election in an election cycle for covered offices under the Act, the remission of funds and equipment purchased by the campaign, and the publication of reports after each election cycle to review and evaluate the Program's activity.

The provisions of the "Fair Elections Act" became applicable on November 7, 2018. View the following information for the Fair Elections Program.
