Visit to Encore Services in Clinton

I had a chance to tour and learn about the crucial programs and jobs for developmentally delayed adults provided by Encore Services in Clinton. My staff and I loved getting to know the participants and how the various jobs they had at Encore Thrift Store and in the community were so important to their lives. Thanks Stephanie and staff for all you do, and for the love you so obviously show.

At the end of the "Lame duck" session late on a Friday night in January, the majority passed an outrageous 17% pay raise on top of their already too generous legislative salary, benefits and golden pensions. Unbelievably, at the end of session in May they included in the budget ANOTHER 5% pay raise for themselves…shameful! This was meant to be a part time job.

I voted against this unethical pay raise and I don't take state benefits or their corrupt pension. When not in session or in the district, I work a full time job just like everyone else (exactly how state representatives were meant to function).

I have committed to give back this pay raise to community groups and charities located in the 87th District.
