February 15, 2024 - NEWARK, NJ - NJ PBS, New Jersey's public media network, announced the release of a new Jersey-centric culture and travel podcast series called Off Exit this week. Listen to a trailer here.

Hosted by Harrison Malkin, a New Jersey native and NJ Spotlight News producer, Off Exit journeys across the state to share unique slice-of-life stories from New Jerseyans, including their passions, hobbies, food, music and Jersey pride.

"Growing up in New Jersey, I was surrounded by people focused on building community, starting small businesses, and inspiring others around them. I always wanted to get to the heart of their work," said Malkin. "And with Off Exit, I'm traveling up and down the state, hoping to highlight the stories that make Jersey, well, Jersey."

"As a public content provider, NJ PBS strives to enlighten and entertain audiences of all ages, across all platforms they enjoy," said Executive Producer Jamie Kraft. "Off Exit is the latest example of unique, locally focused digital content that our audience craves."

In the series' debut episode, entitled Noble Mushrooms, Malkin visits a married couple who tell their story of love and fungi as mushroom farmers in Central Jersey, and how they've grown a special community in the process.

One episode later this season will focus on the story and music of a local jazz pianist making noise in the national jazz scene. And another will explore a "surf jam" competition in Brigantine, NJ to ride the wave of the state's local surf culture.

Off Exitis available through podcast platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and on NJPBS.org.

Off Exit is a production of Public Media NJ, Inc.. Jamie Kraft is the Executive Producer; Mark Nixdorf is Audio Engineer; Morgan Volk is Editor. Music composed by Elliot Lowe.
