City's Website Refresh Process Goes Beyond Its New Look

Yes, the City of Garland website looks different. We've been working on a website refresh, which began rolling out Tuesday, May 14, and continues with a monthlong workplan to optimize the user experience.

Our scope of work for the project includes a new design for the homepage, as well as our major department users (Aquatics, Cultural Arts, Library, Parks & Recreation, Police, Sanitation and Utility Customer Service). We've unveiled changes to the color palette and layout of those pages.

But the project also aims to deliver better functionality. There are quick link boxes to help draw attention to popular items more easily. We've also renamed and pared down menus at the top of the homepage.

The next stage is to work department by department to reduce the website footprint, correct broken links and to delete documents, images and information that is no longer pertinent but slows the search process. This will improve the website's loading speed as well as the quality of your searches.

This is a work in progress. It's still under construction, so you may run into a glitch or two. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the refreshed look of our website.
