SWOSU College of Pharmacy White Coat Ceremony on April 14

The annual Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) College of Pharmacy White Coat Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, April 14, at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the SWOSU campus. This year, 54 SWOSU Pharmacy students will be receiving their white coats during the ceremony.

The White Coat Ceremony holds significant importance as a tradition observed in many healthcare professional programs. It signifies the pivotal transition of students from the classroom phase of education to the experiential stage, where students complete a series of clinical experiences involving direct patient care. During this occasion, students enrolled in the third professional year of the Doctor of Pharmacy program at the SWOSU College of Pharmacy will be individually recognized for their academic achievements and will be awarded personalized white coats.

The white coat serves not only as a symbol of professionalism but also represents the long hours of study, commitment to learning, and dedication to service required to become a true healthcare professional.

Following the presentation of white coats, students pledge to devote themselves to a lifetime of service to others by reciting the Oath of a Pharmacist. The White Coat Ceremony stands as a significant milestone for Doctor of Pharmacy students, with the support from family and friends in attendance.
