GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Per reference (a), this message announces the Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) Combined Awards Program (CAP) winners, runner-ups, and ceremony. This message supersedes the awards categories for recognition identified in reference (a) until it is updated.
2. On behalf of the CMC, the Commanding General, Training and Education Command (CG, TECOM) takes pleasure in congratulating the following Marines on their selection:
a. Drill Instructor of the Year: Staff Sergeant Danny T. Risener III - 1st Recruit Training Battalion (RTBn), Recruit Training Regiment (RTR), Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego.
Runner Up: Staff Sergeant Christian A. Katembo - 1st RTBn, RTR, MCRD Parris Island.
b. Recruiter of the Year: Sergeant Chao Pengwarne - Recruiting Station (RS) New York, 1st Marine Corps District (MCD)
Runner up: Sergeant Zachary A. Thivierge - RS Seattle, 12th MCD
c. Marine Security Guard (MSG) of the Year: Sergeant Seth M. Marcoe - Region 1
Runner Up: Sergeant Alexandra M. Martin - MSG Augmentation Unit
d. Marine Combat Instructor (MCI) of the Year: Staff Sergeant Samuel O. Sanchez - MCI School, School of Infantry (SOI) - East, Training Command (TRNGCMD)
Runner Up: Staff Sergeant Benjamin L. Morrow - Reconnaissance Training Company, Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, SOI - West, TRNGCMD.
3. Coordinating instructions regarding the FY22 CMC CAP awards ceremony (16-20 January 2023) in the National Capital Region will be published via separate correspondence. Additional attendees to the ceremony at the National Museum of the Marine Corps are authorized; however, funding and travel expenses are not.
4. Per reference (c), travel and funding is authorized for the winner and runner up of each award category as well as their spouses. Travel and funding is not authorized for other dependents or guests. Transportation will be provided to and from events for the authorized travelers. The preferred lodging location will be published via separate correspondence.
5. All official events associated with the CMC CAP will be in Dress Blue "C" uniform or business casual civilian attire.
6. Commands are authorized to meritoriously promote the winners when the promotion becomes effective in the Marine Corps Total Forces System. The first general officer in the chain of command has first right of refusal to serve as the promoting officer.
