Gundersen Boscobel welcomes Karen Lomas

Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinicswelcomes Karen Lomas, family nurse practitioner, to its primary care team. Karen first began her healthcare career as a CNA, working in home health. She then became a licensed practical nurse and later an RN. Most recently, she took another step in her career, earning her Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from Purdue University Global.

Prior to joining Gundersen Boscobel, Karen helped manage and coordinate behavioral health services for a Wisconsin-based long-term care organization.

A Boscobel native, Karen is excited to provide care in her own community.

"I grew up here. My kids go to school here. My family is dedicated to the success of this community," says Karen. "I'm excited, with the encouragement of this great team, to support individuals and families in this region."

Karen focuses on family practice, as she likes providing care throughout the lifespan and supporting individuals as they age. As a mom of four active boys, she especially likes taking care of kids.

"I like helping them progress through their early years," she says.

Karen coachesyouth sportsand leads other activities that help kids reach their goals.

"It's a great way to connect with kids. Then, when there's a medical need, I can be that comforting and familiar face."

When not seeing patients, Karen enjoys cheering at sporting events, relaxing on the river or taking a trip to a waterpark.
