Barrasso, Whitehouse Bipartisan National Hospital Week Resolution Passes U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) recently introduced a resolution to designate May 12 through 18, 2024 as National Hospital Week. The resolution honors the significant role hospitals and hospital staff play in patient health care across the United States.

The resolution passed the U.S. Senate unanimously this week.

"During National Hospital Week, we recognize and celebrate the hard work of our nation's hospital workers," said Senator Barrasso. "Doctors, nurses, and hospital staff across the country provide critical care and comfort to patients when they need it most. In Wyoming, we are grateful for our health care providers and support staff for their dedication to caring for patients in all our communities."

"This week we're celebrating the many contributions hospital workers make in the delivery of high-quality care for Rhode Islanders," said Senator Whitehouse. "The doctors, nurses, and staff who work in our local hospitals provide heroic care during some of the most challenging moments patients and their families will ever go through."

"Wyoming hospitals are a vital part to each community across the state and deserve to be celebrated and recognized. The incredible staff members, in each hospital, dedicate their lives to serving others, often putting their own safety and health in jeopardy. Hospitals are anchors in their communities. The Wyoming Hospital Association is grateful for the recognition, from Senator Barrasso and the other members of the Senate, for the incredible service healthcare workers perform. Wyomingites are blessed to have access to care in almost every community in the state. Wyoming hospitals and nursing homes employ over 32,000 employees." - Eric Boley, Wyoming Hospital Association

"The AHA commends Senators John Barrasso, Sheldon Whitehouse, Marsha Blackburn, Shelley Moore Capito, and Roger Wicker for their resolution in support of National Hospital Week. We appreciate their recognition of the important work that hospitals, nurses and other caregivers are doing for patients nationwide. We look forward to continue working with Congress to ensure that hospitals and health systems continue to be at the forefront of advancing health in each and every community." - Lisa Kidder Hrobsky, Senior Vice President of the American Hospital Association

The resolution is cosponsored by Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.).
