Hungry Minds Film Festival

The intersection of cinema, food, and sustainability will be celebrated on Friday, May 31, in Pollenzo.

The festival jury will comprise director Daniele Luchetti, actress Carla Signoris, and film critic Roy Menarini.

The event will also introduce the Food on Film - Stories to Feed a New World project

The Hungry Minds Film Festival will take place on Friday, May 31, to celebrate Pollenzo's 20th anniversary. This international cinematic event focuses on the relationship between cinema, culture, food, and sustainability. Activities will start at 2:30 PM in the Aula Magna and in the courtyard of the Agency of Pollenzo.

An astonishing 3,500 documentaries from 106 countries have been submitted to the festival. The volunteer jury team from the University of Gastronomic Sciences has selected the finalist documentaries. These films and shorts, with food as a common theme, range from environmental challenges in the food industry to passionate stories about local and sustainable cuisines.

These finalist documentaries will be screened in the Aula Magna from 2:30 PM to 5 PM and will be judged by an exclusive jury: director and jury president Daniele Luchetti, actress Carla Signoris, and film critic Roy Menarini.

The Festival will end in the evening with comments from the jurors, the awards ceremony, and the screening of the winning films, including a special screening of Ken Loach's movie "The Old Oak."

Starting at 6:00 PM, there will be a presentation of the Food on Film project, which includes a discussion on the importance of food education in schools. The speakers will be Carlo Petrini - Founder of Slow Food; Mauro Gola - President of the CRC Foundation; Enzo Ghigo - President of the Cinema Museum; Barbara Nappini - President of SF Italy; Lia Furxhi, direttrice Festival Cinemambiente; Eleonora Lano - Director of Education Office SF International, and Rinaldo Rava - Vice President UNISG (moderator).

The "Food on Film" project addresses the urgent global need to respond to the climate crisis through culture. It is based on the belief that culture, particularly cinema, can engage with one of our time's most critical challenges: environmental sustainability.

The project aims to provide young people with an innovative cinematic experience, encouraging cinema as a tool for individual expression. It also seeks to innovate and propagate a new model of green cinematic experience, integrating digital elements and live performances to engage a broad audience and expand the project's replication potential.

The University of Pollenzo, with the Hungry Minds Film Festival and its 20th-anniversary celebrations, provides the perfect setting for the international launch of this ambitious project.
