Festive Fun: Celebrate the Chinese New Year with Ice and Snow Fun

On the second anniversary of the Beijing Winter Olympics, the Beijing Olympic Sports Center Area is offering an extraordinary ice and snow extravaganza to both local residents and international tourists during the 2024 Spring Festival holiday. Throughout this festive period, a total of 13 ice and snow cultural events are being staged at iconic venues, including the National Stadium, the National Aquatics Center, and the National Speed Skating Oval.

The Olympic Park Ice and Snow Season spans across 130,000 square meters of snow-covered arenas and 100,000 square meters of ice rinks. The 2024 Bird's Nest Happy Ice and Snow Season occupies an expansive area of over 60,000 square meters, where more than 20 classic ice and snow games and exhibition activities are available.

In 2024, the grand exhibition titled "Celebrating Lunar Chinese New Year in the Forbidden City" makes its way into the Bird's Nest. This extraordinary exhibition seamlessly integrates traditional New Year customs, interactive digital experiences, intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship and market streets, presenting a panoramic view of the Forbidden City during the New Year through multimedia interactions. The exhibition will run until February 24.

Within the dragon-shaped water system of the Olympic Park, the ice carnival spans an impressive 90,000 square meters in total. It features dedicated areas for ice skating and ice hockey on the specialized ice rink. Moreover, the addition of night lighting system to Lake 6 provides a captivating nocturnal landscape, offering a visually stunning experience for visitors on nighttime excursions.

The "7th Ice and Snow Carnival" in Olympic Forest Park offers an array of over ten enchanting ice and snow entertainment activities. The National Aquatics Center (Water Cube) is hosting the "ICE CUBE Winter Carnival", while the National Tennis Center is presenting the "Dream Ice and Snow Study Camp."

At the China National Arts and Crafts Museum - China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, visitors can explore the themed exhibition showcasing the nationally recognized intangible cultural heritage project "Zigong Lanterns" from Zigong, Sichuan Province. This exhibition will remain open until March 9, with the exception of regular closing days.

The Beijing Olympic Tower is hosting a New Year Temple Fair for the Year of Dragon. This event recreates and showcases the life scenes in old Beijing style, offering an immersive experience of the traditional Hutong (alley) way of life.
