Save the Date: CommUniversity Day Returning September 28

CommUniversity Day has been scheduled for Saturday, September 28, from noon to 4 pm, rain or shine. The event will be hosted on the Academic Mall.

This free, family-friendly festival style event welcomes our neighbors, regional partners, alumni, employees, and other friends to join us on campus to enjoy hands-on, fun, interactive activities and entertainment.

Get Involved

Have a cool experiment you can use to illustrate how your research works? Or maybe you have you a recent project or favorite campus tradition you'd like to showcase? The entire Stony Brook community, from both the University and Medicine, are encouraged to participate and showcase their area of expertise. Please complete the participants form to reserve your free table.

Fun for all Ages

CommUniversity Day is hosting its inaugural LEGO competition. We invite all LEGO enthusiasts to build a LEGO creation that exemplifies their vision of community. The competition will be judged by Stony Brook University President Maurie McInnis and others, leading up to the CommUniversity Day Ice Cream Social and Rubber Duck Race. It is free to participate and registration is required.

Returning festival favorites include the instrument petting zoo, teddy bear clinic, storytime with the Tooth Fairy, appliance autopsy, and health screenings.

We will hold a food driving supporting Island Harvest, a leading hunger-relief organization with a mission to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island. Bring along two non-perishable food items and receive a free cooler bag while supplies last.

Donations

Old appliances and LEGOS are needed for CommUniversity Day 2024.

Small appliances such as laptops, hair dryers, and toasters can be recycled for our "appliance autopsy," where we will dismantle the appliances to understand how they work.

Donate LEGOs to support our exploratory tent, where we will use LEGOs for fun, hand on STEM activities to learn about science, technology, engineering and math.
