Health & Safety: How Knowing Where to Go Can Save You Time and Money

You can never be too cautious when it comes to prioritizing your health and safety. Sometimes, a trip to the emergency room is necessary to get the care you need. This is not always the case, however, and there are other options available that can save you both time and money.

Learn about the benefits of calling your primary care provider first, so you can avoid unnecessary trips to the emergency room.

Call Your Primary Care Provider First

When you start to feel sick, be sure to call your primary care provider first. Building a strong relationship with your provider is important for your overall wellness. By doing so, your provider will be familiar with your health history and can recognize when something is wrong. Some providers offer telehealth visits, which allows them to meet with you in the comfort of your own home.

Call your provider:

  • When you are not feeling well to discuss your symptoms
  • After discharge from the hospital or emergency room
  • For a medication refill
  • Or to schedule a regular office visit

If you do not have a primary care provider and need assistance finding one, please call:

  • Arizona Care Management Team:(520) 392-8975
  • Nevada Care Management Team: (702) 570-5582
  • Oregon Care Management Team: (503) 391-4182
  • Florida P3 Medical Group: (727) 202-8140

Urgent Care Visit First

Visit your nearest urgent care if you have pressing health needs that arise after regular business hours. Ninety percent of patients that go to an urgent care facility are attended to in 30 minutes or less. Going directly to an emergency room can result in longer wait times and the cost can be three to five times more than the cost of an urgent care visit.

Please note: If you are experiencing shortness of breath, chest pains or other life-threatening illness or injury, please call 911 immediately.

Urgent care facilities can serve patients experiencing:

  • Flu Symptoms
  • Accidents and falls
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Strains, sprains and broken bones
  • High fever
  • Minor cut
  • Vomiting, diarrhea or dehydration
  • Other non-life-threatening conditions

We encourage you to review and download the urgent care maps below for your specific community. Please refer to your health plan regarding network benefits at these urgent care centers.
