Opening Ceremony for Water Treatment Plant In Siem Reap, Cambodia

Siem Reap province, Cambodia "The opening ceremony for Siem Reap Water Supply Expansion Project" (the "Project"), which construction contract was awarded to us in December 2019, was held on May 22 2023. His Excellency Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister of National Defense, H.E. Cham Prasidh, Senior Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, H.E. Tea Seiha, Governor of Siem Reap, H.E. Chan Segla, Director General of Siem Reap Water Supply Authority ("SRWSA"), Mr. Atsushi Ueno, the Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia, other government officials and local residents were present. Around 2,000 people in total attended the ceremony.

In Siem Reap, since there is rapid population growth and a tourism surge focused on visiting Angkor Wat, a well-known UNESCO World Heritage site, the demand for safe water is increasing. There are two existing water treatment plants there. One utilizes underground water and the other utilizes an ancient water reservoir. However, the water demand is much higher than the water supply capacity, so hotels and commercial businesses are individually using underground water. Such underground water use is giving rise to concern over adverse environmental impacts such as ground subsidence. The new plant, with its capacity of 60,000m3/day (the largest in the region), utilizes raw water from Tonle Sap Lake, and can contribute to the stable supply of safe water, as well as to the preservation of environment in the region.

The completion of the Project was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the new plant has commenced the supply of safe water since April this year before Khmer New Year, and is satisfying the rising demand of water. In Siem Reap, as a new international airport will be opened, the tourism demand for the region including Angkor Wat is expected to surge further. We will continue to contribute to facilitating the water treatment business in Siem Reap and other provinces in Cambodia by proposing solutions that meet the needs of our customers, as well as achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the region
