With His Betrayal of New Yorkers, Mayor Adams Must Resign

New York, N.Y. (February 14, 2025) - In repsonse to the U.S. Department of Justice dropping charges its a corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, public education advocacy organization the Alliance for Quality Education released the following statement:

"For the past six weeks, New Yorkers have lived in fear-children missing school, families avoiding hospitals, businesses closing their doors-all because of the Trump administration's crackdown, policies and rhetoric. Eric Adams' willingness to fan the flames in exchange for his own personal gain is reprehensible," said Zakiyah Shaakir-Ansari and Marina Marcou-O'Malley, Co-Executive Directors, Alliance for Quality Education.

"New Yorkers have lost whatever trust they had left in their mayor with the Trump administration's dismissal of Adams' corruption case.

"Instead of demonstrating his innocence, Adams proven beyond all doubt his guilt-that he is willing to conspire with the Trump administration to protect himself, even if it means selling out our neighbors, families, and colleagues. He has chosen to aid and abet policies that terrorize our communities, rather than facing his charges in court.

"This is no longer a question of whether Adams, guilty or innocent of charges, is fit to govern. It is about the undeniable certainty of his betrayal of the people of this city. With no credibility left and no trust from those he was elected to serve, Mayor Adams must resign."
