Cicero Health Department offer free Rapid PCR COVID tests

The Town of Cicero Health Department is now offering a highly anticipated new service for Cicero residents, the Rapid PCR Molecular Test for the COVID-19 virus with results made available to patients in approximately 15 minutes, Health Department officials announced this week.

Health Department officials explained that the Rapid PCR test allows for earlier detection of the COVID 19 virus to reduce the spread of the COVID virus.

The Rapid PCR COVID test will also be accepted by both School Districts 99 and 201, among several other agencies requiring a valid COVID-19 test result.

"The Rapid PCR test is more reliable, faster and we believe more accurate to identify whether an individual has COVID-19," said Health Commissioner Sue Grazzini.

"The best time to take a PCR test is when you have had a known or suspected exposure to someone with Covid-19 or are experiencing symptoms and you want to find out if you are COVID-19 positive."

The Rapid PCR tests are available Monday through Thursday between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM at the Cicero Health Department, located at 2250 South 49th Avenue, Cicero, IL.

Although walk-ins are available on a first-come, first-serve basis,

Health Management Director Vanessa Parrish urges residents to please call 708-656-3600 ext.147 to schedule an appointment with the Cicero Health Department in order to secure a desired date and time.
