On April 9, Taiwan and New Zealand signed amendments to add pineapples to the list of approved products in the export plan for fruit and vegetables from Taiwan into New Zealand at a joint management committee meeting on sanitary and phytosanitary measures under ANZTEC-the economic cooperation agreement between the countries. The breakthrough is the result of almost eight years of negotiations and will expand the sale of Taiwan's agricultural products on the international market.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) warmly welcomes the agreement and thanks the relevant teams of both countries for their joint efforts. MOFA looks forward to more quality Taiwanese agricultural products being exported to New Zealand to further advance bilateral economic and trade relations.

This year marks the 11th anniversary of ANZTEC. Taiwan is New Zealand's seventh-largest goods export market, and two-way trade exceeds US$2 billion. Under the existing framework, Taiwan and New Zealand will continue to enhance exchanges in such areas as economics, trade, agriculture, culture, and indigenous affairs in the interests of the people of both countries and to deepen the friendly partnership between the two sides.
