The CAB welcomes the new Minister of Canadian Heritage, Pascale St-Onge

Following Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's introduction of the new federal cabinet, the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) is pleased to welcome the Honourable Pascale St-Onge in her new role as the Minister of Canadian Heritage.

"Canada's private broadcasters appreciate the Government's action on the significant challenges faced by our industry and its championing of bills C-11 and C-18 in recent years," says CAB President Kevin Desjardins. "We look forward to the opportunity to meet with Minister St-Onge as the important work of broadcasting system modernization and supporting Canada's newsrooms continues."

As Canada's private broadcasters contend with increasing pressures due to the presence of foreign digital giants in our media ecosystem, we are eager to collaborate with the new Minister and her office to ensure that our commercial radio and TV services continue to be supported as primary drivers of Canadian content and news that matters to communities across the country.

"The CAB would also like to thank outgoing Minister Pablo Rodriguez for his dedication to the Online Streaming Act and the Online News Act throughout his tenure," continues Desjardins. "We wish him well in his new role as Minister of Transport."
