AHN Enhances Access to Primary, Express Care Services with Opening of New Facility in Bellevue

Former Urgent Care Center at AHN Suburban transformed to provide residents of Bellevue and the surrounding communities with convenient access to comprehensive primary and express care services

PITTSBURGH - Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is celebrating the opening of AHN Primary Care Bellevue - a new primary care clinic, which also provides walk-in Express Care services, based at AHN Suburban (100 South Jackson Avenue).

The new, 10,000-square-foot facility, located at the site of AHN Suburban's former Urgent Care Center, combines two AHN primary care practice offices in West View and Bellevue in to one location and provides walk-in services for minor medical issues.

AHN Primary Care Bellevue includes 16 patient exam rooms with pediatric-capable rooms as well as an X-ray laboratory. Express Care, which is open Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., is ideal for conditions such as coughs/colds, sore throats, rashes, pink eye, muscle strains and other similar minor ailments and injuries.

Providing comprehensive primary care services at the clinic are family medicine physicians Aparna Balichetty, MD, Christopher Fleissner, DO, and Elizabeth Slaymaker, MD who are specially trained to care for individuals of all ages and to treat entire families. The physicians are supported by a multi-disciplinary clinical staff including certified registered nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, nutritionists, behavior health specialists, and more.

Formerly known as AGH Suburban Hospital, AHN Suburban has served the community in a variety of capacities for more than 115 years. In 2010, the hospital's inpatient units and emergency department closed, shifting its focus to various outpatient services.

AHN Primary Care Bellevue is the latest of a series of recent investments by AHN and Highmark Health aimed at repurposing AHN Suburban to best serve the community. In 2020, a 10,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art research facility occupied by AlphaLab Health opened. AlphaLab Health is a health care and life sciences accelerator partnership between AHN and Innovation Works. Its third cohort of start-up companies launched last fall.

Also located at AHN Suburban is a new health and fitness facility which hosts an exercise oncology program from the AHN Cancer Institute. The novel program for cancer patients is aimed at decreasing treatment side effects, boosting quality of life and improving health outcomes.

Last month, French biotech startup AdipoPharma announced plans to relocate its headquarters to the Suburban campus. The company is developing a novel drug to treat Type 2 diabetes.
