WINTER STORM CLEANUP: Brush Recycling; Normal Trash Schedule Next Week; Disaster Declaration

BRUSH RECYCLING OPTIONS

UPDATE: Curbside pick-up is currently available for Lakeway residents only. If you are in the county, please contact Travis County for options they may have in place.

The City of Lakeway will offer a curbside pick-up option for residents for brush and tree limbs starting Monday at 8 a.m. Services will start on Sunfish, but PLEASE go ahead and put piles of brush and tree limbs by the curb over the weekend in case crews make a lot of progress. It's preferred if you can cut down to smaller, manageable chunks, but we know some may not have the equipment to do so, so bring what you can to the curb. The Disaster Declaration below allows for cutting of trees for clean-up. However, if you do cut oak limbs, please try to paint the wounds since we are in Oak Wilt season. Beyond that, we don't have a specific pick-up location schedule at this point, beyond starting on Sunfish Monday morning. If you're not able to get to it this weekend, the City will work on other pick-up options in the future, but if you can, please try and have limbs and brush at the curb for crews starting Monday morning. Expect this process to last several weeks. This will be a FREE service for residents. Public Works (3303 Serene Hills Drive) will also be open 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. through the next few weeks (and on weekends). However, they are already reaching capacity with brush and tree limbs. It's encouraged residents opt for the curbside option for easier convenience and to assist our crews. Additionally, please DO NOT dump in unauthorized locations throughout the City of Lakeway, including our greenbelts.

Please know that downed limbs and trees are the responsibility of the property owner. Please also be cautious of moving limbs. Live wires could be a possibility and deadly if you make contact. Only professional crews should go anywhere near a downed power line. Be sure to call your power company if you spot a downed line. Because of the drought, many roots of trees were dried out, so the ice is uprooting some of them. Be CAREFUL if you venture outside. Also, be careful at area parks as there are several broken limbs and limbs still falling due to the ice. Please allow crews over the next few days to assess the situation and fix any possible hazards in the parks. Hamilton Greenbelt and the Canyonlands are currently closed due to hazardous trail conditions related to falling limbs.

TRASH SERVICE SCHEDULE (WASTE CONNECTIONS)

All trash and recycling services will resume normal operations next week. Customers are allowed up to 8 bags of trash per pick-up, and any branches need to be cut in 3X3 bundles for pick-up purposes. Questions? Email: [email protected]
