Sweetgrass Farm Winery & Distillery is Participating in Wild Blueberry Weekend

Posted August 05, 2021

Sweetgrass Farm Winery and Distillery, producer of wines and spirits, including the popular Back River Gin, is participating in the First Annual Maine Wild Blueberry Weekend EAT. DRINK. EXPERIENCE August 7-8, 2021.

Sweetgrass Farm has been making wild blueberry wines and spirits since 2005. Sweetgrass works with small independent Maine wild blueberry growers to get blueberries at their peak ripeness measured by sugar content, acidity and flavor. Most of the blueberries used come from fields that are more than 100 years old and have never had spray or irrigation. Sweetgrass makes 5 wild blueberry products using 5 to 7 tons of blueberries annually. As part of the wild blueberry weekend Sweetgrass will be providing a special tasting featuring all 5 of its popular blueberry products: Blueberry Cabernet Sauvignon, Maine Wild Blueberry Sangria, Blueberry Smash made with wild blueberry brandy, Back River Gin which uses wild blueberries in the botanicals and Blueberry Aromatic Cocktail Bitters. This special tasting is available in Union and at Sweetgrass Old Port in Portland. Outside and inside seating is available, no reservations required but group size is limited to parties of 6 or less. The tasting costs $5 and includes the souvenir glass.
