HONOLULU, March 21, 2024 - Hawaiian Electric crews will perform emergency work to replace a de-energized downed cable along Alohea Avenue in Kaimuki on Tuesday, March 26, and Wednesday, March 27, impacting traffic in the area from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. both days.
The work will close portions of Alohea with traffic contraflowed and parking restricted on both sides of the street in the work zone, as follows:
The sidewalk in the work zones will be closed and pedestrians will be asked to cross the street to avoid the construction.
Electronic message boards will be posted ahead of the work to alert the public of the planned lane closure. Directional arrow boards, safety signs and traffic cones will mark the work zone and direct motorists to the contraflow lane, while special duty police and flagmen provide onsite traffic control.
Motorists are urged to drive with caution when approaching and passing the work zone, plan for traffic delays or seek alternate routes.
