West Holdrege, NW 56th and West Vine Now Open

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) opened sections of three streets to traffic today:

  • West Holdrege Street from Northwest 56th to Northwest 48th streets
  • Northwest 56th Street from West Holdrege Street north to the existing urban paving
  • West Vine Street east of Northwest 48th Street.

These Lincoln on the Move projects will help serve future residential development promote private sector investment by improving the safety and capacity of the transportation system. The projects will help serve 728 approved housing units, 350 potential future units, and about one million square feet of potential commercial space.

Remaining work includes grass seeding and other minor work items. Completed work includes:

  • New 16" water main
  • New roundabouts at the Northwest 50th and Northwest 52nd street intersections
  • New concrete and asphalt roadway surfacing
  • Grading for future improvements
  • Public and private utility infrastructure
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant curb ramps, bikeway and sidewalks
  • New traffic signal systems along Northwest 48th Street (West Holdrege and West Vine)

The six-year Lincoln on the Move program is investing an additional $78 million in street infrastructure through 2025.
