Ogden Marathon Course Update And Schedule

Ogden Marathon Course Update

Events to proceed as scheduled this Saturday, May 20, 2023

(Ogden, Utah) Weber County Emergency Management and Utah Department of Transportation have confirmed the repair work in Ogden Canyon is complete and both lanes are in the process of being opened for two-way traffic. The impacted area of Ogden Canyon has been fully mitigated and will not affect the Ogden Marathon Course. This means that there will be no changes to the original course in Ogden Canyon and the Ogden Marathon is set to proceed as scheduled this Saturday, May 20, 2023.

The GOAL Foundation (producers of the Ogden Marathon) is also working closely with Weber County Emergency Management regarding additional flooding on SR 39 at mile marker 24 in the upper South Fork Canyon. Plans are in place to ensure the safety of participants with the help of law enforcement to navigate any areas impacted by the recent flooding.

"We sincerely appreciate the support of Weber County, Ogden City, and Utah Department of Transportation and their commitment to the safety of everyone involved in the Ogden Marathon", says Eric Bauman, executive director for the GOAL Foundation.

On May 20, 2023, the GOAL Foundation will host the 22nd annualOgden Marathon, presented by America First Credit Union. (See accompanying schedule of events and road closures.) The race has long been a community favorite event with plenty of ways to participate and have fun with the whole family throughout the weekend.

Ogden City welcomes back the marathon for its 22nd year running. The Ogden Marathon is a major component in the GOAL Foundation's mission to get Weber County residents and visitors out and active (GOAL is an acronym for "Get Out And Live"). To further its mission of encouraging participation in outdoor events, GOAL has expanded the event's free youth and family-friendly activities, which the entire community is invited to participate in during marathon weekend.

Ogden Canyon will be closed from 5:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. for the marathon events. Ogden Canyon residents will be permitted to use the Utah Highway Patrol shuttle service to travel to and from their homes. Additionally, Hwy 158 between the spillway and the Valley Market in the Ogden Valley, will be closed during the race. Eden, Huntsville, and Liberty residents are asked to use Trappers Loop or the North Ogden Divide due to the Ogden Canyon closure. All Valley traffic is expected to return to normal by 1:30 p.m. on May 20th. Downtown Ogden traffic will also be impacted during the event. A full schedule of road closures and traffic delays can be found on the Ogden Marathon website.

While only a few limited spots remain in the event's coveted full marathon, half marathon, relay, 12k, and 5k distances, Ogden Marathon weekend also features free family-friendly activities for the entire community to "Get Out And Live" and enjoy.
