The humour is here!

The second book in the series Humour and Cruelty: A Philosophical Exploration of the Humanities and Social Sciences

The second book in the series Humour and Cruelty: A Philosophical Exploration of the Humanities and Social Sciences by Giorgio Baruchello, Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Akureyri and Ársæll Már Arnarsson, Professor at the School of Education at the University of Iceland, has been published.

The book is called Dangerous liaisons, and the authors pick up where they left off in the first book. They discuss how and why humour often has a cruel undertone, even though it is often presented as an innocent joke. The book explores the main theories of cruelty and humour, both in philosophy and science. They also discuss interesting research in this field.

The first book received very good reviews in foreign academic journals, as it is a work that relates strongly to the present and covers the darker aspects of comedy in a comprehensive manner, both from an ethical and psychological point of view. De Gruyter publishes the series and is one of the oldest and most respected publishers in its field, publishing academic books for 274 years, or since it was established in 1749.
