EXTRAORDINARY SESSION OF THE ORGANISATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION (OIC) COUNCIL OF FOREIGN MINISTERS 5 MARCH 2024

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Mohamad bin Alamin will lead Malaysia's delegation to the Extraordinary Session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers on 5 March 2024 in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Deputy Foreign Minister will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Extraordinary Session will be participated by Foreign Ministers and representatives from the OIC Member States. The Session is called in light of Israel's continued atrocities in the Gaza Strip, including the attacks in Rafah. The Session will also discuss implementation of the decisions reached during the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit in November 2023.

The Deputy Foreign Minister will update efforts that have been undertaken by Malaysia in defending the rights of Palestinians. He will also affirm Malaysia's continued support to the OIC in finding a lasting solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict.

As one of the founding members of the OIC, Malaysia remains committed to the Palestinian cause and will continue efforts, within its means and capabilities, for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as well as the admission of Palestine as a full Member of the United Nations.
