Clifford Brown Year-Round: “New, Creative & Fresh”

The annual concert series kicks off Friday at the Christina Cultural Arts Center

Cityfest, Inc.'s continues its year-round jazz concert series honoring Wilmington's own Clifford Brown with a night of new experiences. Listen to some of music's newest voices while exploring other art forms, from culinary creations to live painting, at this groundbreaking show! The concert will be in-person on Friday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m. at the Christina Cultural Arts Center, 705 North Market Street. The show will feature performances by Eric McGarry Quintet, Hiruy Tirfe Quartet, and The Blues Reincarnation Project. In addition to new music, guests in attendance will be delighted by the live painting of JaQuanne LeRoy, who will be creating an original painting in response to the music. His original work will be available for auction during the show.

Not only will guests be taking in all of these art experiences, but the concert will also showcase other small businesses from Wilmington that experiment with creativity - Wilmington Brew Works, Luxe Charcuterie, and Hell's Belles Bake Shop will be selling snacks and drinks. You can pre-order a sweet treat from Hell's Belles (Berry Hand Pie-$6) or a "cup-cuterie" from Luxe (charcuterie cup-$9) online at the time of ticket purchase and your items will be waiting for you at showtime!
"The theme of the March Clifford Brown Year around Concert demonstrates that Jazz is surviving as it always has - by merging with other musical genres and fusing with other styles. In other words, as all living things that thrive do, Jazz is evolving," says Tina Betz, Director of Cultural Affairs for the City of Wilmington.

Tickets, which are available at buytickets.at/cityfest, are $15 for general admission, $10 for children ages 18 and under and seniors 65 and over. Proceeds support proceeds support this annual series as well as other programs produced by Cityfest, Inc., including the Urban Artist Exchange Eastside Neighborhood Revitalization Project and the Arts Work Youth Program.
Clifford Brown Year-Round is presented by Cityfest, Inc. and the City of Wilmington Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs with generous support from The Delaware Division of the Arts, Delmarva Power, An Exelon Company, Gerald Chavis Music, and The Christina Cultural Arts Center.
