The new multi-purpose Project 22220 nuclear-powered icebreakers, built at the Baltic Shipyard in St Petersburg for the Rosatom State Corporation, are the largest and most powerful in the world. A total of five icebreakers will be built under the project, which was launched in 2013. The Arktika and the Sibir are already in service in the Russian nuclear-powered fleet, and the icebreakers Yakutia and Chukotka are currently under construction at the Baltic Shipyard.
