Grand opening of Hall County’s new Fire Station 17 set for May 9

Hall County Government will host a grand opening Thursday, May 9 at 12 p.m. to celebrate Hall County's newest fire station located at 5719 Holiday Road in Buford.

"Fire Station 17 is an important addition to Hall County Fire Rescue and has been a well anticipated project for the growing south Hall area," Hall County District 2 Commissioner Billy Powell, whose district the station sits in, said. "This station will serve citizens living between the Gwinnett County line and Hall County Fire Station 8 on Gaines Ferry Road, providing a greater presence of emergency personnel when seconds are crucial."

The new fire station, located approximately four miles from Lake Lanier Islands, is equipped with the latest technology and equipment and was an integral piece of the Hall County Fire Rescue Master Plan, which outlines ways the County can strategically manage its public safety resources as it continues to grow.

"We, as a department, are excited for Station 17 and all that it will provide to the community," Hall County Fire Rescue Chief Jerry Smith said. "The strategic location will be essential for quick response to Lake Lanier, as well as many highly populated areas that our current stations already respond to from a further distance."

The project, which began in May 2023, was completed on a $6.3 million budget and received its funding from SPLOST VII, SPLOST VIII, Impact Fees and Capital Projects.

The opening ceremony is free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided to those in attendance.
