Editor's note: This article, originally published on Sept. 25, was updated on Sept. 27 to reflect that Ian has developed into a hurricane, and again later that day with new information.
With the safety of the airline's people and customers a top priority, Delta is moving aircraft and crews out of Hurricane Ian's path and offering a waiver for impacted customers.
Starting Tuesday evening, Delta flights will not operate at the following airports, with flights tentatively scheduled to resume Friday if conditions permit:
Delta will not operate at Orlando International Airport (MCO) beginning Wednesday. Flying may resume on Friday if conditions allow.
Delta expects to continue operations at other Florida airports but urges customers to watch their flight status closely on delta.com or the Fly Delta app. Some flights could be delayed or canceled because of winds and other conditions caused by Hurricane Ian.
On Tuesday, Delta expanded the fare difference waiver it initially issued on Sunday to include more destinations in Georgia and South Carolina and airports throughout Florida. The waiver is effective from Sept. 25 - 30. With this, the fare difference for customers will be waived when rebooked travel occurs on or before Oct. 3, 2022, in the same cabin of service as originally booked.
At Delta, our team of 80,000 is focused on delivering a reliable, high-quality experience and minimizing inconvenience when circumstances disrupt scheduled operations. A customer guide to traveling with Delta offers more information about cancellations, refunds and waivers.
