HEC Montréal at the heart of IVADO's R3AI research program

Appointment of 5 faculty members

April 5, 2024

Five faculty members from HEC Montréal will take on a leadership role in the strategic research Regroupements (clusters) that IVADO is preparing to deploy as part of its R3AI program. With a mandate to generate major advances in knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications, they will engage closely with top researchers from various disciplines.

This selection is the result of several months of consultation between IVADO's management, its members, and the AI scientific community. "These appointments confirm HEC Montréal's position as a leader in management research, especially with regard to current societal issues such as AI," proudly states Caroline Aubé, Director of Research and Knowledge Transfer, and Professor in the Department of Management at HEC Montréal.

The R3AI program aims to develop responsible, robust, and reasoning AI. Its name refers to the 3 essential characteristics of tomorrow's AI:

  • Robust - to be able to rely on sound models and applications
  • Reasoning - to develop AI that is explainable, causal, and modular
  • Responsible - to ensure that AI is ethical and inclusive

R3AI will be based on 10 interdisciplinary and multi-sectoral strategic Regroupements funded and supported by IVADO teams through the Canada First Research Excellence Fund grant.
