Monks Finish as Runner-up at Inaugural GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championship

BOSTON, Mass. - Saint Joseph's College finished as the runner-up in the 2020 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship at Boston University on Sunday. The Monks tallied 116 points, just three off the lead total posted by champion Suffolk University, in the first-ever indoor championship in GNAC history.

Freshman Simon Vinci (Peabody, Mass.) garnered All-Conference honors after winning the Shot Put with a 13.87m distance and five team records fell in the title meet. Junior Lance Santeusanio III (North Berwick, Maine) set a pair of records with new top marks in the Long Jump (6.11m) and Triple Jump (12.30m), sophomore Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) broke his own team records in the 1-Mile run (4:30.85) and 3000-Meter run (16:03.66), and sophomore Tyler Nadeau (Farmingdale, Maine) broke the 60-Meter dash record with a 7.25 time.

Suffolk captured the inaugural GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championship with 119 points, Emmanuel College placed third (80), Regis College finished fourth (61), Lasell University was fifth (48), and Colby-Sawyer College rounded out the six-team field with 40 points.


  • Santeusanio tallied a team-high 28 points with second-place finishes in the High Jump (1.70m), Pole Vault (3.10m), and Triple Jump (12.30m) and a fourth-place effort in the Long Jump (6.11m)
  • Vinci won the Shot Put (13.87m) and finished third in the Weight Throw (13.29m) for 16 total points
  • Hendricks also notched 16 total points with runner-up efforts in the 1-Mile run (4:30.85) and 3000-Meter run (9:13.55) events
  • In just his second collegiate meet, Nadeau posted second-place finishes in the 60-Meter dash (7.25) and 200-Meter dash (23.29) races for 16 total points
  • Freshman Ricky Reyes (Worcester, Mass.) added 12 points with third-place efforts in the 800-Meter run (2:03.68) and High Jump (1.65m)
  • Senior Alex Fitzgerald (Lebanon, Maine) finished third in the Triple Jump (12.21m) for six points
  • Junior Michael Mason (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was fourth in the 800-Meter run (2:04.39) and sixth in the 400-Meter dash (52.65) for five total points
  • Sophomore Jacob Huberdeau (Atkinson, N.H.) added five points after placing fourth in the 3000-Meter run (9:25.76) and sixth in the Pole Vault (2.50m)
  • Reyes, Santeusanio, Mason and Hendricks raced to a runner-up finish in the Distance Medley (11:04.55) for eight points
  • Brandon Whitlock (Westbrook, Maine), Nadeau, Connor Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine), and Cameron Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) placed fourth in the 4x400-Meter relay (3:45.10)
  • Andrew Goodall (Richmond, Maine), Ben Plante (Biddeford, Maine), William Schwarz (Agawam, Mass.), David Tuttle (Brunswick, Maine), Devin Abbott (Berwick, Maine), Jacob Boissonnault (Biddeford, Maine), and Shawn Breen (Plymouth, N.H.) also competed in the inaugural GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championship
