Durbin Meets With Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association

WASHINGTON - During National Police Week, U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today met with the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA), the largest nonpartisan, nonprofit professional association exclusively representing federal law enforcement officers with nearly 800 members in Illinois. During their meeting, Durbin and FLEOA leaders spoke about improving the recruitment and retention of federal law enforcement officers.

Durbin and FLEOA leaders also discussed legislative proposals to support law enforcement, including three bipartisan bills the Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to consider tomorrow: the Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act, the Retired Federal Law Enforcement Officers Continuing Service Act, and the Reauthorizing Support and Treatment for Officers in Crisis (STOIC) Act.

"Federal law enforcement officers put their lives at risk every day to protect our communities. I'm grateful to our officers and their families for their dedication and sacrifices," said Durbin. "Today, I sat down with the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association to discuss how we can improve recruitment, retention, and well-being in the profession."
