NASHVILLE, Tenn.-May 13, 2024-Trousdale Turner Correctional Center (TTCC) leadership and staff hosted a graduation ceremony May 10, for 26 inmate participants of the TCOM Addiction Treatment Program. Family members joined in to celebrate their loved one's accomplishment.

Their graduation signifies the successful completion of a nine-to-12-month intensive treatment program dedicated to addressing substance abuse disorder and behavioral health challenges among incarcerated individuals.

Under the leadership of Trousdale Turner's new Treatment Manager, Dr. Chris Cain, and a team of five new Treatment Counselors, the program provides participants with comprehensive support and resources to overcome addiction and embrace a path of recovery.

Marcus Boatwright, a program graduate, shared his personal journey and the profound impact of the TCOM program during the graduation ceremony. "I appreciate to have been surrounded by others like me who have struggled with addiction," Boatwright said. "Dr. Cain and the program leaders here at Trousdale led us through the recovery journey and have empowered each of us to take ownership of our past choices and not let our past define who we are now. For me personally, I have learned that recovery is possible, and I have emerged stronger, ready to contribute positively after my release and when I return to my community."

TCOM, also known as "Living in Balance," equips participants with essential tools to understand addiction, manage triggers, and lead a life of sobriety. Through Victim Impact sessions and mandatory NA and AA meetings, individuals confront the consequences of their actions and find strength in community support.

With 26 more individuals set to graduate in September and an additional 12 in December, Trousdale Turner and Team CoreCivic remain committed to expanding access to transformative rehabilitation opportunities through the program.

"I am very proud of each of our graduates, as well as our dedicated program staff here at Trousdale Turner," said Warden Vince Vantell. "The TCOM program is just another example of our commitment to providing rehabilitative programs and resources to support the successful reintegration of those in our care. These innovative approaches to offender management empower individuals to lead productive and fulfilling lives beyond incarceration," Warden Vantell added.

Approximately 40 new participants are slated to join the program this summer, reinforcing the facility's dedication to reducing recidivism and fostering successful reintegration.

Participation in reentry programs like TCOM have demonstrated a significant reduction in recidivism rates, underscoring the vital role of rehabilitative initiatives in promoting successful reentry into society.
