City Council Work Session on April 22, 2024

Las Cruces City Council will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024, for a work session focusing on the proposed City budget for Fiscal Year 2025.

The work session will be in Council Chambers at City Hall, 700 N. Main St.

City Council will review and conduct a public hearing on the City's proposed budget. City staff will review the progress of the budget's development, from the annual two-day budget retreat held in mid-February, through the ensuing City Council meetings and work sessions.

Monday's work session will include discussions of the proposed Fiscal Year 2025 budget and its assumptions, department requests, and the City's Capital Improvement Program.

The annual budget development cycle begins with the production of the five-year forecast, followed by the compilation of City Department budget requests, City Strategic Plan, department strategic plans, and Elevate Las Cruces.

Also at Monday's work session, City Council will receive a presentation and discuss Community Livability. City staff will seek guidance from Mayor Eric Enriquez and the Council on proposed expenditures from the Telshor Fund and Cannabis Excise Tax that will be included in the Fiscal Year 2025 City budget.

Additionally, the City Council will be presented with and engage in discussions regarding the proposed budgets for Fiscal Year 2025 from the Joint Power Agreement (JPA) agencies. The JPA participants include the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley, Metro Narcotics, Metropolitan Planning Organization, South Central Solid Waste Authority, and the Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority.

A Tax Increment Development District board meeting, initially scheduled April 22, 2024, has been canceled.
