The Federal Supreme Court launches on this Tuesday (17) the campaign Unshaken Democracy (#DemocraciaInabalada), in response to the acts of vandalism committed on January 8 at the headquarters of the Court.

Until February 1, videos will be shown on TV Justiça, other stations and websites, and posts will be made on the Court's social networks, aiming to drag attention to the unfortunate episode, so that it is never forgotten nor repeated, and to emphasize that democracy and the Supreme Court come out strengthened from these events.

The videos and other promotional materials, such as cards for social networks, will be available for sharing by entities, other courts, public agencies and anyone interested in joining the campaign (click here).

The content was produced by TV Justiça with the support of the Brazilian Association of Advertising Agencies (Abap). When it comes to broadcasting the content, the STF will have the support of the Brazilian Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters (Abert).

"The Supreme Federal Court will reconstitute its headquarters building, a historical patrimony of Brazilians and of humanity, and a symbol of the Judicial Power, one of the three pillars of Brazilian rule-based democracy. The work involves removing shrapnel, re-erecting tables and chairs, rebuilding spaces, and restoring furniture and antiques. However, the response to the criminal acts also involves spreading the message that this Supreme Court, as well as the institution's defense of democratic state ruled by law, remains steadfast," said the Chief Justice, Rosa Weber.

Devastation vs. strengthening

On the afternoon of the last January 8, the Federal Supreme Court sitting en banc was completely destroyed, glass panes were shattered, statues torn down, armchairs pulled out, furniture smashed and works of art vandalized. Windows were graffitied and rooms in the administrative areas, which operated in the other floors of the building, had their installations destroyed.

Despite the attack, the STF stands firm in defense of democracy and the Federal Constitution. By order of the Chief Justice, Rosa Weber, an extraordinary office was set up to rebuild the Federal Supreme Court sitting en banc, and work has already begun. The Federal Supreme Court sitting en banc will be ready for the opening trial of the 2023 Judicial Year, on February 1st.

The #DemocraciaInabalada campaign is part of the Court's actions to highlight the soundness of Brazilian institutions and the strengthening of the STF in the face of the criminal acts of which it was victim.
